Alaya payed close attention to every word that Caesar said. She already knew the constellations but by different names. She made a mental note to be sure she knew the human names for the star groups. She looked at the map. "Okay so if were are here. Then to get to say Cutless, we would have to follow this group of stars?" She asked pointing to a constellation that was slightly over Cutless.

"Correct." he said happily. "Very good." That's the basics. "Now that you've got yourself a linear path," he put a pin over Cutlass. "Have a look at the things in your way. Shallow waters here... Storms hug this border..." his fingers traced over the map, pointing. "Can you find the path to safely get the ship and crew to Cutlass?" he asked, as if it were a test question.

Alaya carefully examined the papers. She knew at that time which constellations were in certain parts of the sky which meant storms in some areas and while others it was safe. She traced with her finger, what she believed to be the safest and fastest way to Cutless. She looked up at Caesar hoping she had it right. The Sirens often used the stars to tell them where the storm was coming from and where it was headed hoping that there would be a ship in its wake.

Wolfe watched quietly from the sidelines. Aaron was very sharp, he himself could say. The boy had real talent and caught on very quick to Caesar's instructions. In a few minutes he had a very good plot course set out. And a very nice one indeed. He smiled but said nothing. He would let Caesar handle the boy after all they already looked close to each other. He wasn't going to interupt that. However he knew that Aaron was not going to be swabbing the deck much anymore. And to that thought a slight smile crossed his lips.

His lips pulled back to a smile. "Excellent." Caesar said, examining the path. "Now remember, the constellations don't stay in one place. They move with the seasons, but they're the most stationary thing we've got. So you'll need to memorize what constellations are in the sky during what times in the year, and use them to the best of your ability. But that will come later. End of lesson one." Caesar took out the pins and rolled up the map, handing it back to Wolfe. "Nicely done." he whispered to Alaya.

Wolfe smirked he had a lot of potential that boy. But Caesar had that affect on people. He always ended up finding people that had something good. After all that was how he had met the lad. Wolfe took the map from Caesar's hand. Wolfe glanced at the boy. " You have a lot of potential as a sailor. Stay around Caesar, he'll teach you some good stuff." Wolfe said looking up at Caesar. "I know he has taught me some things." he said smiling. He turned then walking away. He didn't know the truth about Alaya but he knew that there was something truely special...about the kid.
