Alaya walked behind the counter to find another bottle of rum for the customers. It was late and the bar was just getting busy. She smoothed out her long red skirt and fixed her dark blue long sleeved tunic and straightened her black corset. Her hair was in a bun and her belt was hidden by a brown apron. She took three large jugs of rum to some men sitting near the door. She walked off quickly and back behind the counter. She wouldn't be leaving that spot for a while.

Caesar sat at the bar, drinking his usual glass of rum and whiskey. Surprisingly enough, he had a high tolerance level, and was rarely drunk. His drink was getting a little low though, and he looked at it sadly. How happy he was when a young wench passed by. An old sailor's daughter, Caesar knew. "Hello Alaya!" he greeted her. He knew all of the wenches' names. Most Sea Hounds did. This was the place that they spent most of their time. "Could you get me a little more rum and whiskey?" he asked, pushing his glass towards here.

Alaya looked over to see the person who called to her. She nodded and went behind the counter. She poured another glass of Rum and whiskey for Caesar. "Here you go" She said handing him the drink. She knew he was sailor. One of the Sea Hounds to be correct. Someone else called for a glass of rum. She hurried off to fetch him the drunk his order.

Caesar took the full glass back happily. "Thanks, Miss. " he said, and then reached into his pocket. He found two golden coins that he had stolen from the Siren sailor, but before he could give them to her, she scurried off. Caesar watched her go, the two golden coins still in his hand. He would have to wait for her to come back if he was to give her her tip. The man pulled his drink closer to him and took a hardy gulp of it before wiping his mouth. Delicious.

Alaya walked back around the saloon making sure everyone was relatively happy. She ended up back at the sea hound who called her by name. "Can I get you anything else" She asked. She would have someone calling her for another order some time soon but right now she was glad not to be running about.

"I'm good, thanks." Caesar said, rolling the two coins between his fingers. "But I want you to have these. " he said, tossing them up into the air and catching them before pressing them into her palm. He looked about, making sure no one saw him. It was Pirate code to share any stolen loot that you may have taken, even if you got it by yourself. "It's our little secret though, understand?" he whispered, happiness still riding on his voice.

Alaya nodded and quickly slipped the coins in her pocket of her apron. She walked off to take care of another order before returning back to the counter. She started to clean some glasses when a group of sailors started to break into song. She rolled her eyes returning to her work. She was putting away the mugs when she heard some shouting. Two men started to fight. She rushed over to try and get the two drunks outside or to stop. The crowed prevented her from getting too close. The shouting grew louder as the men were on top of each other.

The sailor stood up to see what all the commotion was about. He stretched his neck to get a look. They were going at each other's faces, so he couldn't tell who it was. "What happened?" he asked one of the other Pirates.
"One of 'em spilled the other one's drink." he answered, the words also slurred.
Caesar nodded. The fight was normal, as was its reason. But when he saw a silver sparkle, the unmistakable flash of a knife, he jumped in. "HEY!" he shouted, trying to pull the one with the knife off of the other man. There was no need to kill a good set of hands over a drink of rum. Everyone would have to work harder on the ship to make up the loss.

Alaya sighed. She was able to move in just as the other man stopped the fighting. She took the knife from the man and started cleaning up the mess. He wouldn't get his knife back as long as he was in the bar. She quickly brought two drinks for the fighters to keep them quite. "Thanks" She said to the sailor who helped.

"Don't mention it." he said, taking a seat back down at the bar and drinking his rum and whiskey. "Some words of advice, though, let me give the man back his blade. He'll come after you as soon as he's sober enough to realize that you took it." Caesar said. He looked over to the man who had previously been holding the knife. "And I'd do it soon. Any more drunk, and he'll look for it and find it gone. Then he'll start accusing people and start another fight."

Alaya didn't really want to give up the blade but she did. There better not be any more fights or else those who started the fight would be kicked out. "How is the sailing going?" She asked the man. She liked to hear about the sea just didn't get a lot of time to hear anything. She was now posted at the bar as another wench took her place serving at the tables.

Caesar placed the knife back on the table beside the drunken man, explaining that he had 'misplaced' it during the fight, and then he came back to the bar to talk with Alaya.
"Well," he started, "No voyage is ever the same. But the Golden Sea has been rough, lately. I hate and love those storms." Caesar said with a twinkle in his eye. "I even thought that I saw something over the edge of the boat recently, but you can never be sure of what you see in those dark waters. It was big. Bigger than a shark, and smaller than a whale. It had a dorsal fin, but that was all that was truly clear to me." he explained. "Some of the other Pirates said that I was imagining, but I know what I saw." Then he smiled. It was just a fish story.

Alaya listened intently. She loved fish tales no matter how strange they may sound. She shook her head. "You never know what lies in those waters. Too bad no ships are hiring around here. I would love to be out there instead of behind this bar" She said not knowing why she told this man that. She passes a glass of Rum to a drunk not too far off.

"Well," Caesar said, shifting in his seat. "The Sea Hounds don't allow women on our ship. It's bad luck." he said. "Sorry." Then a twinkle came to his eye, and he waved a finger for her to come closer as he leaned into the table. "But," he whispered. "The Sirens are a band made completely of women. They're a big group. And they don't turn down and extra set of hands. But I didn't tell you that." The sailor winked. "They're our enemies, they are."

Alaya had heard of tails of the band of women who called themselves The Sirens. Being part siren herself she had little respect for the women. It would get her on the ship but was it really worth it? "I will find some way around that" She said. She wasn't going to join the sirens unless she had no choice, and even then she might not.
